Food Safety Hazards

Ingest allergen-containing foods or drinks can initiate severe immuno responses if the body is sensitive to. The immune system fights off a perceived threat where the protein is sensed to be harmful to body. Such kinds of responses are allergies.

Bacteria are the most common cause of food poisoning. The poisoning symptom and severity depend on bacterial number and their toxins. Once they are over the cleaning capability of body immune system, we will fall sick.

Additives

Food additives are substances added to food to preserve flavor or enhance its taste, appearance, or other qualities. During World War II, the urgent need for cheap, available food preservatives led to it being used again, but it was finally banned in the 1950s. Such cases led to a general mistrust of food additives, and an application of the precautionary principle led to the conclusion that only additives that are known to be safe should be used in foods.

Pesticide

There are more than 1000 pesticides used around the world to ensure food is not damaged or destroyed by pests. Each pesticide has different properties and toxicological effects. None of the pesticides that are authorized for use on food in international trade today are genotoxic (damaging to DNA, which can cause mutations or cancer). Adverse effects from these pesticides occur only above a certain safe level of exposure. When people come into contact with large quantities of pesticide, this may cause acute poisoning or long-term health effects, including cancer and adverse effects on reproduction.
